Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. If your drone requires repairs, you can choose to start a maintenance plan instead of a repair order. In that case, the standard diagnostic inspection will be replaced with our full maintenance inspection, which is more detailed but still covers everything the diagnostic would.

This means you will not be paying for two separate inspections, and once repairs are complete your aircraft can be certified directly into the maintenance program.

No. The FAA does not issue or require “airworthiness” or “maintenance” certificates for small unmanned aircraft (sUAS) under Part 107. Our certificate is a statement of professional service confirming that your drone was inspected, maintained, and found to meet the operational standards defined by the manufacturer and FAA best practices at the time of service.

No. Under current FAA and Tennessee regulations, there is no legal requirement to hold a maintenance certificate for commercial drone operations. The FAA however, strongly encourages routine maintenance to ensure safe, reliable flights; especially for commercial work.

It means your drone passed our operational checklist, which includes manufacturer-recommended maintenance, firmware updates, and mechanical inspections. It shows that the aircraft was serviced by a professional and was in good operating condition on the date of certification.

Yes, in many cases. While not a legal requirement, proof of professional maintenance can help reduce disputes, improve client confidence, establish pilot credibility, and meet insurance policy requirements that ask for records.

The certificate is valid for the length of your chosen contract. New certificates can be created if an aircraft is renewed during an active contract. After it expires, your drone must be re-inspected and serviced before a new certificate is issued.

Yes. If a drone does not meet operational standards during inspection, it cannot be certified until necessary repairs are completed. We will provide repair options or return the aircraft as-is if you choose not to proceed.

An aircraft may fail inspection if it shows signs of physical damage, worn or broken parts, battery issues, outdated firmware, or unsafe modifications.

We also check for missing manufacturer-recommended components, improper repairs, or environmental damage such as corrosion or water intrusion.

If your drone does not pass inspection, we will provide you with detailed findings and clear repair options. Once the issues are corrected, it can be certified.

No. Certificates are issued to the aircraft and current owner at the time of inspection. A new owner should have the drone re-inspected for certification under their name.
